quick rotation update, one chopped one just popped

chopped the zkittlez auto last night, finally. she went 78 days from sprout and i was getting impatient around day 65 but i held out and man glad i did. trichs were mostly cloudy with a solid chunk of amber, exactly where i wanted her. wet weight looked good, hanging to dry in the corner now.

while that was finishing up i dropped a northern lights auto seed into a glass of water four days ago and she popped yesterday. already in a 3 gallon fabric pot under the ts1000 on 20/4. i like starting them right in their final container, saves the whole transplant stress situation and with autos that matters.

the tent right now is a little awkward honestly. one seedling under full light, one hanging outside the tent drying, nothing else running. this is the gap week i always forget to plan around lol. next run i want to stagger better so there's always something mid-veg when i chop.

if you're running perpetual in a 3x3 you probably know this feeling. the rotation looks smooth on paper and then you end up with one tiny sprout and an empty net. still beats waiting months between grows though, i'll take the awkward gap over a long reset any day.

The zkittlez auto terp profile is what i'm most curious about honestly. 78 days is a solid run and that cloudy/amber mix you described usually means she had time to really develop, but zkittlez crosses can go two completely different directions on smell depending on the pheno. did she lean more grape/candy or did you get anything gassy underneath? i've had zkittlez phenos that smelled like straight fruit punch and others that had this weird funky diesel thing going on under the sweetness. both valid but very different end results.

Cure is gonna be everything here. wet weight means nothing to me until i know how she smells after a proper 60 day cure. that's where zkittlez really opens up in my experience.

On the gap week thing, everyone here is nodding about staggering but honestly for a 3x3 running one strain at a time isn't the worst approach if you're terp hunting. overlapping strains mid-harvest gets messy when you're trying to control temp and humidity for the dry and you've got a seedling needing different conditions in the same space. the awkward gap might actually be working in your favor for cure quality without you realizing it.

The gap week is real and i've never fully solved it either, but one thing that helped me was thinking less about timing the chop and more about timing the seed drop. If you start the next seed about 10 days before you expect to chop, by the time you've got the previous plant down and humidity sorted, the seedling is just hitting that first true leaf stage and isn't demanding much yet. The overlap is short enough that the drying environment doesn't really compete.

The one thing i'd watch with a 3 gallon fabric pot from day one is keeping that root zone warm and not oversaturating early on. Tiny seedling, big volume of soil, the microbial activity is going to be lower in the outer areas until roots colonize out there. I water a small circle around the stem for the first couple weeks to keep moisture where the roots actually are. Learned that one the hard way with a northern lights seedling that sat in wet soil for too long before she had the roots to use it.

Congrats on holding out to 78 days. That's where the patience usually pays.
