one plant trained wide beats two plants smell-wise
been running my 2x2 for a while now and the biggest smell lesson i learned the hard way: more plants means more canopy surface, more stomata pushing terpenes into the air, more load on your carbon filter. one well-trained plant in a 3 gallon can fill that footprint just fine.
LST and some light defoliation mid-veg let me spread one plant across the whole floor. i pin branches outward with soft ties to the fabric pot handles. by the time stretch hits, i've got an even canopy and the filter isn't getting hammered from all directions.
smell in a small space is a math problem. less plant matter above the net means less raw stink to scrub. my AC Infinity filter on a 4 inch inline handles it clean when i'm running one plant. two plants in the same box and the hallway starts telling on me during late flower.
one plant, trained hard, vertical space used properly. that's the move if discretion matters to you.
