LED Grow Light Comparison 2026 – Which lights actually work?

I've tested 30+ LED panels over the years. Here's my honest ranking for 2026:

Budget Tier ($100-200):

  • Mars Hydro TS1000 — best bang for buck, good for 2x2
  • Spider Farmer SF1000 — slightly better efficiency, same price
  • Viparspectra P1000 — decent but runs hot

Mid Tier ($200-400):

  • Mars Hydro TSW2000 — excellent for 3x3, great spectrum
  • Spider Farmer SF2000 — slightly more efficient
  • AC Infinity IONBOARD S24 — amazing build quality

Premium ($400+):

  • HLG 300L Rspec — gold standard, incredible efficiency
  • ChilLED Growcraft X2 — best spectrum I've tested
  • Luxx Clone LED — commercial quality

Key Metrics:

  • Efficacy: 2.5+ umol/J is good, 2.8+ is great
  • Coverage: match your light to your tent size
  • Spectrum: full spectrum with some far red is ideal

Don't waste money on cheap Amazon blurples. A proper LED is the best investment you'll make. 💡

Upgraded from a blurple to the Mars Hydro TS1000 last month. The difference is insane — my plants are growing twice as fast and the leaves are so much greener. Best $80 I ever spent.

Great list! I'd add the Kingbrite and Meijiu boards from Alibaba for people who don't mind ordering from China. Same Samsung diodes as Spider Farmer at half the price.

Can confirm the Mars Hydro TS1000 recommendation. Best entry-level light for the money. My plants absolutely love it in my 2x2 tent.

Upgrading from blurple to this light literally doubled my yield. Not exaggerating.

Spider Farmer SF2000 gang here. It's been running 16 hours/day for 18 months with zero issues. The dimmer switch is clutch for seedlings.

For anyone on a tight budget: even a $50 LED from Amazon is better than no grow light or a blurple. Just make sure it's full spectrum.

For outdoor supplemental lighting (cloudy days), even a small 100W LED panel makes a huge difference. I use one in my greenhouse during overcast weeks in spring.
