Why does everyone recommend autoflowers for beginners?
Because they're foolproof: flower automatically (no light schedule changes), finish fast (8-10 weeks), stay small (easy to manage), and are more forgiving of mistakes. You sacrifice some yield vs photoperiods but the simplicity is worth it when learning.

This is exactly what happened to me. Took a while to figure out but once I got it dialed in, everything improved.

Started with the same setup. Worked great for my first autoflower from Royal King Seeds.

Good for college folks too who want to harvest before Summer or Winter break. That's what I remember Autos being for originally.
I've heard people call Autos "plants with training wheels".
Autos are also good folks with a short outdoor growing season.
