Was upgrading your grow light actually worth the money?
Picked up a decent mid-range LED last year and my plants have been happy, but I keep eyeing those higher-end fixtures and wondering if I'm leaving anything on the table. We're talking like a 2x2 or 3x3 space, not a commercial op. Just a few plants at a time.
For the guys and gals who took the plunge and went from a budget light to something fancier, did you actually notice a real difference in bud density or yield? Or is it more of a "feels good to have nice gear" situation. My wife already thinks the grow room is a money pit, so I need actual evidence before i pull the trigger on anything.
What light were you running before and what did you switch to? Curious if the jump made sense at smaller scales or if the budget stuff is honestly good enough once you dial in everything else.

The yield and density conversation is real but it's not the whole picture. What changed for me when i went from a mid-tier blurple to a better full-spectrum fixture was the terpene expression, not just the numbers on a scale. Same genetics, same everything, and the smell off the plant in the last few weeks of flower was just noticeably louder. More complex. Whether that's the spectrum, the better canopy penetration, or something else entirely i honestly can't say for certain, but it tracked across multiple grows.
For a 2x2 or 3x3 though, a decent mid-range LED is probably not your bottleneck right now if your plants are happy. VPD, root health, your cure, all of that is going to move the needle more than swapping fixtures. The guys upgrading lights and seeing dramatic jumps were often also dialing in other stuff at the same time and giving the light the credit.
If terps and flavor matter to you at all, it might be worth the upgrade eventually. If you're chasing raw weight in a small space, probably put that money into your environment controls first.
