What size pots should I use for autoflowers?

I keep seeing conflicting advice. Some say 3 gallon, some say 5 gallon. Does it really matter that much? I have a small 2x2 tent.

3 gallon fabric pots are perfect for autos in a 2x2. You can fit 2 comfortably. 5 gallon is overkill for most autoflowers β€” they don't use all that root space before they start flowering.

The exception: if you're growing in living soil, go 5 gallon minimum because the soil biology needs more volume.

2x2 tent = 2 plants in 3 gallon pots. That's the sweet spot. I've tried cramming 4 in there and it was a nightmare β€” no airflow, couldn't water properly, plants fighting for light.

Fabric pots are key β€” they air-prune roots instead of letting them circle. This gives you better root structure and harder to overwater. Smart Pots or the Amazon basics fabric pots both work great.
