Was upgrading your light actually worth the money?
Running a small 2x4 tent and i've been on the same blurple LED for about three years. Gets the job done but i keep reading that a decent quantum board makes a huge difference in density and resin. Hard to tell if that's people who actually upgraded talking, or just gear-head enthusiasm.
I'm looking at spending maybe $200-300 on something better, which for a hobby grow feels like a lot when the current light technically works. Did any of you actually notice a clear before-and-after difference, or is it more of a marginal thing that only matters at a certain scale?
What did you upgrade from and to, and was the harvest difference obvious enough to justify it?

The density thing is real but honestly that wasn't even my biggest takeaway when i swapped out my old blurple. The terpene expression improved noticeably. Same strains, same methods, better light and suddenly i was getting more of the smell i was hunting for. Whether that's because the plants were actually healthier or just producing more resin surface area i can't say for certain, but the difference in the jar was obvious to me.
The yield bump gets talked about alot but if you grow for flavor, the light quality argument is even stronger in my opinion. Blurples run hot and uneven and i think that stress shows up in the final product even if you don't realize it.
That said, $200-300 is a real budget in a 2x4 and you can do well there. Just don't cheap out twice. One decent board at that price point beats two budget options.
The terpene improvement claim is the one i'm always a little skeptical of, because it's really hard to rule out curing differences or even just placebo when you're excited about new gear. That said, the heat and uneven coverage point is legitimate, and I do think stressed plants show it somewhere. My blurple runs noticeably warmer and I've always wondered how much of that is quietly costing me.
