what classic strain still holds up for you
been running og kush since the late 90s and i still put it up against anything new. the terps, the yield outdoors in good soil, the bag appeal when its cured right. nothing i've tried from the hype rotation the last few years has made me want to retire it.
but i'm curious what you all think. not trying to start a war over old vs new, just genuinely want to know what classic you keep coming back to. blueberry, trainwreck, nl5, sour d, whatever it is. what's the one strain you ran years ago that still earns its spot in your garden.

Trainwreck for me, no question. But i'd push back a little on the framing here because i think a lot of people are comparing a memory of these strains to whatever current genetics they grabbed from a random seed run. The OG you were running in the 90s and the "OG Kush" someone pops today are not necessarily the same conversation.
What keeps me coming back to Trainwreck specifically is that the terp profile is genuinely hard to replicate. When you hit a good pheno and cure it right you get this sharp lemon diesel thing up front and then this almost menthol pine note that creeps in on the backend. I've done pheno hunts on newer stuff chasing that exact profile and the closest i've gotten is maybe 70% there.
The thing i'd add to this thread is that cure makes classic strains look even better than they already are. A lot of people running modern hype genetics are rushing to smoke them. OG, Trainwreck, Blueberry, they reward patience in the jar in a way that feels almost old school. My Trainwreck phenos go 10 to 12 weeks in cure before i even consider them done and the smell evolution from week 4 to week 10 is wild.
So yeah classics hold up, but i think we sometimes shortchange them by not finishing them properly.
the point about genetics drift is real and worth saying. but i'd push back slightly on 10-12 weeks cure being some kind of baseline. my best OG runs were done at 6-7 weeks and they were exceptional. cure time depends heavily on how you dried it, what your environment was, and what the plant actually needs. chasing a number can get you overtired flower just as fast as rushing it.
