what RH are you guys actually curing at

been sitting at 62% in my Grove Bags for the last few runs and the terps have been decent, but i keep reading people swear by 58% or even lower for really resinous stuff. got a gassy pheno right now that i hunted out of a 12-plant run, super loud diesel with this weird under-ripe mango note, and i want to nail the cure so i dont lose any of that on the back end.

my last grow i let a jar get a little warm and humid mid-cure and it just killed that fruity top note completely. still smoked fine but the smell went flat. felt like losing a good hand of cards. so now im paranoid about every little thing.

curious what you all land on and whether it changes depending on the strain. like do you go drier for heavy resin producers versus something more floral? or just keep it consistent across the board? drop your number and the reasoning, genuinely want to know what people are seeing.

62% has always felt like the safe middle ground to me but i've actually been creeping down toward 58-59% lately for anything really terp-forward, and yeah i do think it makes a difference on the louder profiles. the gassy diesel types especially seem to hold better a little drier. not a massive swing but noticeable.

the one thing i haven't seen mentioned yet is how much the dry itself sets the ceiling for what the cure can even do. if you rushed the dry or it wasn't even throughout the bud, no RH dialing in the bag or jar is gonna rescue those delicate top notes. you can optimize the cure all you want but you're working with what the dry gave you. lost a similar fruity pheno last year chasing it too fast off the line, and no amount of careful bagging saved that mango note.

for something you hunted out of a 12-plant run i'd probably be extra conservative on the dry side, take it slow, then seal around 58-60 and burp more frequently early on just to watch it. that warmth issue you mentioned is worth taking seriously too, even a couple degrees above where you want it can speed up degradation faster than the RH alone.

The dry point is real and I won't argue it, but I'd push back a little on the burping advice for something that gassy. Every time you crack that jar or bag you're venting volatiles, and on a loud diesel pheno those lighter top notes are the first thing out the door. I've had better luck doing fewer, shorter burps on the really aromatic stuff once it's stabilized, rather than going heavy early on.

The venting-volatiles concern is real but i think it gets overstated. The bigger loss early on comes from trapped moisture and heat, not from a 30-second burp. Get your dry point right before you seal anything and the burp schedule matters a lot less.
